Rangoli Patterns

Kia Ora, Hello, Bonjour! How has your day been? Hope it has been good.
In class, we are going to be doing the Christmas concert/dance about Diwali (Said like Divali). Miss Farr (our teacher) decided that we could learn about Diwali. I have enjoyed this so far because I am learning lots and lots of stuff about Diwali. I have seen a rangoli on TV before but I never knew what it was called and the meaning of it. We had to draw and create a rangoli pattern in our maths books, then on google drawing after that, on a drawing site. I enjoyed making this because it was so much fun thinking of and drawing rangolis. The drawing site/game was probably the most fun because there is a drawing tool that can make it easy for it to be the same shape everywhere, it is called the mirror brush. This is was difficult because it was hard to get it symmetrical in my maths book but with the squares, it was a little bit easier.

Calendar Art

Kia Ora, Bonjour, Hello Everyone! How has your day been?
Every year we make a calendar art of a different kind of style. If you don't know what calendar art is, it is a piece of artwork that every class does if your school does it. Each class makes different kinds of art. This year Miss Farr (our teacher) has decided to take a picture of us pretending that we are thinking of something. Miss Farr said that we should draw a picture of our favourite place that is anywhere in the world. I choose to do Raglan. Raglan is a beach that is great for surfing. We didn't go surfing there, we did do boogie boarding. It was always so much fun. We had to put our name and 2022 because that is next year and these calendars are for next year. I am really proud of the bubble writing I did of the words. I enjoyed making this artwork because I think that it's so cool and I am proud of the whole thing. This was difficult because when we were planning on what our favourite place is, I could not remember what it was called. I asked my Mum and then she said Raglan.
I hope you enjoyed :)

Transformations

Kia Ora, Hello, Bonjour. How has your day been?
Miss Farr (our teacher) showed us this video and tasks to do bout this particular maths task. We are learning about transformations. A transformation is changing something into something else. The transformation part is rotation, reflection and translation. We had to make a slide for these three transformations. We had to find three logos of a company or something else that has a logo. We had to explain the logos about what they are and how it relates to rotation, reflection and translation. After we did that, we had to make a logo for ourselves and the class. I made it on this drawing app on my Chromebook then took a screenshot and now posting it on my blog. The logo that represents me is 5 unicorn horns. And the one that represents Whenua (our class) is a mountain and a river across it. I choose to do that because Whenua in Māori means land. The picture that represents me is rotation because they are all the same. The one that represents Whenua is a mirror image, the green part (mountain) is the same from top to bottom and the river is the same if you flip it so standing up. I enjoyed this activity because it was fun to make my own logos. This was difficult because it was hard to find logos that have either rotation, reflection and Translation.
Hope you enjoyed :)

Paralympics - Lesson 7

Kia Ora, Bonjour, Hello. How has/was your day been?
This is another Paralympics lesson, this is lesson 7. First, we had to read a piece of writing about Someity. Someity is the mascot of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. They show determination and try their hardest. After that, we had to watch a video about Someity. Then we had to write what colours and symbols we think represent New Zealand. Then we had to answer the questions about Someity. We then got to design a New Zealand mascot for 2020 Paralympics (it would not actually be the mascot). I made 3 drafts then I drew one that I liked. I named them based on what they looked like. My Dad thought of the name for Wheely William because I could not think of a name. My Dad said that he saw someone in a costume at his work that looked like Jessica (draft 2), with the cap and everything. I liked Wheely William the most because he represents the Paralympics most with his wheelchair. I coloured William in and wrote NZ Paralympics on him but you can't see it so I wrote next to the picture what it says (it does not say write on it, I just wanted to make sure that people know what was writen on it). I enjoyed this lesson because it was fun to draw the pictures. This was difficult because I was trying really hard to get a good mascot but it was still fun. I made all the mascots into kiwis.
Hope you enjoyed :)
