Stuff that I have not posted yet this year

This is the Curious Fish animation.

Kia Ora, Hello, Bonjour! How are you? I hope you are doing amazing.

This year (2021) I have not posted some of my work, so I have made this slide show so I can still show the work I have created over the past year. There are different reasons why I have not posted this stuff this year already. It could be because I forgot, I didn't have time or other reasons. I have counted the things I have not posted and put them into the slide show. This was fun to do because I still got to show my work. This was difficult because I was trying to find things but it was manageable with the ones I found.

Hope you enjoyed :)

Stick Figure Art - Animation - Picture

Kia Ora, Hello,Bonjour! How are you? Are you excited for next year (2022)?

This is another SLJ (Summer Learning Journey) activity. It is called Stick Figure Fun. I was scrolling though the SLJ activity site, then I saw this activity and it looked quite fun. First, we had to draw stick figures on a piece of paper doing different things then take a picture using a phone or on your webcam on the Chromebook. I took the picture on my Chromebook. I drew stick figures waving, jumping, Swimming, Baking/Cooking, Basketball and Drawing. If you look closely at what the stick figure is drawing, you can see that it is also drawing a stick figure. After we did that we had to make a slide show of your animation about your stick figures activities. I choose to use the waving one, basketball one, jumping and Baking/Cooking. I enjoyed making this lots because I like doing art (     I am not that good at it though :)    ).
Making the slide show animation was a bit tricky but it was still fun. You should try this out.

Hope you enjoyed :)

How to make a boat - Summer Learning Journey

This is a picture of the ship.

Hello, Bonjour, Kia Ora. How are you? Hope you are amazing!

This is another Summer Learning Journey activity. This is the second Nanogirl challenge. We had to try and make a ship/something that floats. I watched the other video that Nanogirl recommend us to watch as well and it helped a lot with the sail/flag. I did not know how to do it but now I know. You get a piece of paper and fold it but not press hard down on it and make a hole through each side with a pencil/pen or scissors (Have adult supervision). I enjoyed this activity a lot because I like to make different things in my spare time. This activity taught me a lot because it was a bit windy so the pencil and paper kept on not sticking but I managed to do it.

Hope you enjoyed :)

Learn a MAGIC TRICK by watching this video!

Kia Ora, Hello, Bonjour! How are you? Hope you're doing amazing during the summer or winter break. (depending on where you live).

This is a Summer Learning Journey activity for the 16th of December even though I am doing it on the 17th. I was so excited to see this on the Summer Learning Journey blog because magic looks so interesting to learn. I did the step it up activity. We had to watch an instructions video on what to do with this slide that we got to put our video in. Then it said that we have to watch this video of someone teaching us magic card tricks. There were three in total and we got to pick one. I choose to do the one that she explains in the middle. I choose it because I didn't want to get salt or crumbs everywhere and the other trick looked like it was going to take too long to record a video to teach. I used Screencastify to record my video and the limit amount on filming time is five/5 minutes. I enjoyed this activity so much because I showed my family and they were confused. This was difficult because I couldn't remember what side was supposed to be flipped on. The right or left side.

I hope you enjoyed :)

Summer Learning Journey - Day 1 activity - Ring Glider

This is the first video to watch.

This is the second video to watch.

Kia Ora, Bonjour Hello! How are you? Hope you are doing amazing.

This is the first Summer Learning Journey activity. This activity was actually for yesterday but I didn't finish it. I tried making a ring glider yesterday with goose paper (spare paper) so I can know how to do it without wasting expensive paper. The two colours I choose to do were yellow and orange because it reminded me of summer! I choose to do a ring glider because I have never made one before and it looked interesting to make. Today I decided to make a video, teaching other people how to make a ring glider. I found out that if you point the little ring first and the big ring behind then it goes faster than the other way. I enjoyed this activity a lot because I go to make something that can fly out of Paper and we also got to make a video teaching others. This was difficult because I was using Screencastify instead of We video. Screencastify had a limit of 5 minutes recording so that is why I have two videos.
I hope this video and blog post can teach you how to make something you didn't know existed. (I know I sure did!)

I hope you enjoyed :)

Day 1/activity 1 (What we would take on a three day trip) Day2/activity 2 (About ourselfs and our culture)

Kia Ora, Bonjour and Hello. How are you hope you are amazing.

This blog post is a summer learning Journey activity. We did this yesterday but I didn't realize that we had to post it on our blog. We had to think about the food that we would take with us on a three-week trip in a canoe. Takutai came to our class because Takutai was learning how to blog post. We registered a buddy that we choose and I choose Alyssa. I enjoyed this because it was fun to think about the food we can bring. This was difficult because we had to think about what could actually last in three weeks.

Hope you enjoyed :)

Today we have done another Summer Learning Journey activity. Takutai came to our class again today. Before we did the activity we had to choose our buddies and Miss Farr (our teacher) explained the activity we were doing today. The buddy I choose was Asha. We decided to right our cultures on google slides, she had her own slide and I had my own as well. I enjoyed this activity because it was fun to learn that my last name actually comes from Scotland. This was difficult because I couldn't find that many pictures of my family.

Hope you enjoyed :)

Key word hunt - Fly me up

Kia Ora, Hello, Bonjour everyone. How has your day been? Hope it has been good.
This is another Diwali (said like Divali) activity. We had to read an article about this girl called Tiffany and about the art that brings people together. It is called fly me up. This activity is to help us with summarising and make us be better at understanding the text. We had to write what was said in the article in order with our own words. Then we had to think of keywords and phrases. Then we had to use those keywords and phrases to make a brief summary. I enjoyed this activity because it feels like it has helped me to understand the article a bit more. This was difficult because it took a little while. I decided to put a picture her because this work is basically about her and her heroic act.
Hope you enjoyed :)

Rangoli Patterns

Kia Ora, Hello, Bonjour! How has your day been? Hope it has been good.
In class, we are going to be doing the Christmas concert/dance about Diwali (Said like Divali). Miss Farr (our teacher) decided that we could learn about Diwali. I have enjoyed this so far because I am learning lots and lots of stuff about Diwali. I have seen a rangoli on TV before but I never knew what it was called and the meaning of it. We had to draw and create a rangoli pattern in our maths books, then on google drawing after that, on a drawing site. I enjoyed making this because it was so much fun thinking of and drawing rangolis. The drawing site/game was probably the most fun because there is a drawing tool that can make it easy for it to be the same shape everywhere, it is called the mirror brush. This is was difficult because it was hard to get it symmetrical in my maths book but with the squares, it was a little bit easier.

Diwali vs Matariki

Kia Ora, Hello, Bonjour. How has your day been? Hope it has been amazing!
Recently in class, we have been researching about Diwali (said like Divali). This is another activity, compare and contrast. One side is where we put all of the information about Diwali, on the other side is where all the information about Matariki is and in the middle is where we put the information that is the same on both celebrations. I got the information from the links at the bottom of this blog post. This was enjoyable because it was very easy for me to learn more stuff about Diwali and Matariki. This was difficult because it was kind of hard to find more facts about Matariki, there was a lot about Diwali.
Hope you enjoyed :)

Diwali brainstorm

Kia Ora, hello, bonjour.
Lately in class, we have been researching about Diwali (it is said like Divali) because we are going to do the Christmas concert about Diwali. This is a brainstorm about what we know about Diwali so far. I enjoyed this activity because it was fun to put all my ideas about Diwali on my Chromebook. I am excited to look back at this after learning more about Diwali and find out all of the stuff I have learned. This was difficult because I put too much of the text boxes so I had to get rid of some. I did this activity a few days ago but I keep on forgetting to post it on my blog.

Palindromes Poem

Unicorns
Fluffy and pretty
Powers with horn
Amazing
horn with powers
Unicorns

This is a palindrome poem. These poems are when you write something in a poem style but it is backwards with the wording. I decided to make a palindrome poem about unicorns because they are my favourite animal. I enjoyed making this poem because I like how I did it and how it turned out. This was difficult because it still needed to make sense both ways.

Hope you enjoyed :)

Quatrain Poems

In libraries there are books
You can get out or return
There are so many things to out-look
Bookworm is what you can turn

The butterfly
Fly through the sky
Its wings spread
Then the caterpillar will try

I like fries
They're much better than guys
Fries are nice and crispy
But guys are too talkie

Calendar art galore
Pencils and Pens
Paper and card
The summer begins

Kia Ora, Bonjour, Hello everyone! How is your day?
In class, we have recently been learning how to make different kinds of poems. This is a quatrain. The key thing to make it a quatrain is to have it rhyme in different kinds of patterns. It is usually four lines. My favourite poem is probably the library poem. I enjoyed this activity because it was really fun to make poems because I like the way it sounds when it rhymes. This was difficult because I could not think of words that rhyme.

Hope you enjoyed :)

Limerick Poems

There once was a unicorn
She was always scared of corn
Magic Powers that she do
She did a colourful poo
She had clothes that she outworn

There once was a girl named Elise
Her friends Dad is a police

She loves to draw lots of cats
Once she has seen rats
She sometimes and usually says please

Kia Ora, Hello, Bonjour everyone! How is your day?
Recently we have been learning how to write different kinds of poems. This is a limerick. A limerick has 5 lines. The pattern of what words ryhme is AABBA. Which means that the two top lines and the bottom line rhyme and the third and fourth lines rhyme. I enjoyed making these two poems because it is really fun in general. It was hard to try and think of things that can rhyme though. Soe of the sentences don't really make that much sense, but it rhymes.

Hope you enjoyed :)

Calendar Art

Kia Ora, Bonjour, Hello Everyone! How has your day been?
Every year we make a calendar art of a different kind of style. If you don't know what calendar art is, it is a piece of artwork that every class does if your school does it. Each class makes different kinds of art. This year Miss Farr (our teacher) has decided to take a picture of us pretending that we are thinking of something. Miss Farr said that we should draw a picture of our favourite place that is anywhere in the world. I choose to do Raglan. Raglan is a beach that is great for surfing. We didn't go surfing there, we did do boogie boarding. It was always so much fun. We had to put our name and 2022 because that is next year and these calendars are for next year. I am really proud of the bubble writing I did of the words. I enjoyed making this artwork because I think that it's so cool and I am proud of the whole thing. This was difficult because when we were planning on what our favourite place is, I could not remember what it was called. I asked my Mum and then she said Raglan.

Transformations

Kia Ora, Hello, Bonjour. How has your day been?
Miss Farr (our teacher) showed us this video and tasks to do bout this particular maths task. We are learning about transformations. A transformation is changing something into something else. The transformation part is rotation, reflection and translation. We had to make a slide for these three transformations. We had to find three logos of a company or something else that has a logo. We had to explain the logos about what they are and how it relates to rotation, reflection and translation. After we did that, we had to make a logo for ourselves and the class. I made it on this drawing app on my Chromebook then took a screenshot and now posting it on my blog. The logo that represents me is 5 unicorn horns. And the one that represents Whenua (our class) is a mountain and a river across it. I choose to do that because Whenua in Māori means land. The picture that represents me is rotation because they are all the same. The one that represents Whenua is a mirror image, the green part (mountain) is the same from top to bottom and the river is the same if you flip it so standing up. I enjoyed this activity because it was fun to make my own logos. This was difficult because it was hard to find logos that have either rotation, reflection and Translation.
Hope you enjoyed :)

Cleirhew Poem

Katelyn
Her Dad loves bacon
She was born on Thursday
She wears hearing aids.

Little red riding hood
Her Mum sent her with a basket because she could
She wore a red jumper
To visit her Grandmother.

The three little pigs
Their names were youngest pig, middle pig and oldest pig
They have twisted tails
Going on trails.

Garfield
He doesn't like running on fields
Lasagna is his favourite food to eat
He has ginger feet.

Kia Ora, Bonjour, Hello Everyone!!! I hope your day has been going great, amazing, fantastic, wonderful, splendid and magnificent.
In class, we have recently been learning how to make different types of poems. This poem is called a Cleirhew poem. This poem is a poem that has two lines at the start that rhyme and the bottom two lines that rhyme. Miss Farr (our teacher) said that we have to make four poems. One about ourselves and three about made-up characters. I choose to do little red riding hood, The three little pigs and Garfields. I choose Garfield because when I was little I watched Garfield all the time. I enjoyed this because it was fun to make it rhyme. This was difficult I could not think of anything that rhymes with Katelyn, I finally thought of bacon after a while. I kept on wanting to write woods for the little red riding hood but that does not rhyme because of the s.

Epitaph Poem

Here lies a man named Garry Bositions

He always spills positions

He's really smart

Until he does a great big fart

Here lies a man named Borey

He went to a stream and was swimming

He found a fish named Corey

He realized he was underground dreaming

Kia Ora, Hello, Bonjour. I hope your day is amazing!
We have recently been learning how to make different kinds of poems. This is an epitaph poem. It is a poem that is usually serious for people's gravestones. Miss Farr said that we were going to make funny epitaphs. I am not sure if the poems I made were funny or not, I tried to make them funny. I enjoyed this activity because it was fun to make the poems in general. This was difficult because it was hard to think of funny words that rhyme.

Kia Ora, Hello, Bonjour. How has your day been? Hope it is going well.
For the rest of term 3 this year, we are going to make different types of poems. This is an acrostic poem. It is when you choose a topic and choose different words that go with that topic word. You put the topic word down the page. I choose to do one of my poems about unicorns becuase I like them and my other poem is about birthdays, I choose thsi word because my birthday is coming up. I nejoyed making these poems a lot. It was fun to think of words and sentence's for unicorns and birthday. This was diffiuclt becuase sometimes I couldn't think of words for them.

Paralympics - Lesson 9/10

Kia Ora, Bonjour, Hello everyone! Hope you are having an amazing day!

This is another Paralympics lesson. This is the last lesson for this whole Paralympic activity. First, we had to brainstorm ideas of what an ad tries to do and where you can find ads. Then we got to make an ad for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. It was really fun to make and I am really proud of myself. I enjoyed this because it was fun to make the video because I like to make videos and I do it a lot. This was difficult because it was hard to think of places where ads are because I could not really think of that much for it, but I still really enjoyed it.

Paralympics - Lesson 8

Kia Ora, Bonjour, Hello Everyone! How has your day been?

This is another Paralympics lesson, this is lesson 8. First, we had to look at the medals that the athletes get for winning, we had to write 3 - 5 words that describe the medals. Then we had to read an article and watch a video about the medals. We had to answer questions and write one-two sentences. We had to read another article about the athlete's village. We had to make a brainstorm about the accessibility of the athlete's village. I enjoyed this activity because it was fun to answer the questions and make the brainstorm.

Paralympics - Lesson 7

Kia Ora, Bonjour, Hello. How has/was your day been?
This is another Paralympics lesson, this is lesson 7. First, we had to read a piece of writing about Someity. Someity is the mascot of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. They show determination and try their hardest. After that, we had to watch a video about Someity. Then we had to write what colours and symbols we think represent New Zealand. Then we had to answer the questions about Someity. We then got to design a New Zealand mascot for 2020 Paralympics (it would not actually be the mascot). I made 3 drafts then I drew one that I liked. I named them based on what they looked like. My Dad thought of the name for Wheely William because I could not think of a name. My Dad said that he saw someone in a costume at his work that looked like Jessica (draft 2), with the cap and everything. I liked Wheely William the most because he represents the Paralympics most with his wheelchair. I coloured William in and wrote NZ Paralympics on him but you can't see it so I wrote next to the picture what it says (it does not say write on it, I just wanted to make sure that people know what was writen on it). I enjoyed this lesson because it was fun to draw the pictures. This was difficult because I was trying really hard to get a good mascot but it was still fun. I made all the mascots into kiwis.
Hope you enjoyed :)

Back to school

New Zealand is not in lockdown anymore.

Kia Ora, Bonjour, Hello. How has your day been?
Miss Farr (our teacher) has given us this sheet to fill out about how we are feeling about going back to school after level 4 and 3 lockdown at home. First, we had to put an emoji about how we are feeling. I put a very smiling emoji because I am excited to see my friends again for 3 about 3 weeks. We had to write about what was different from home school to normal school. Then I answered 4 questions. I made a lot of food and it was really yummy. I made chocolate chip cookies that I accidentally put 1/2 Tablespoon of baking powder, it is supposed to be 1/2 Teaspoon but I learn from my mistakes. I enjoyed this activity because it was fun to write what I did in the lockdown and what was different from home school to normal school. So basically I liked doing the whole activity. This was difficult because it was hard to find the pictures for the food I made, I found two pictures of the food. Chocolate chip cookies and banana muffins.

Paralympics - Lesson 6

 https://sites.google.com/paroagrey.school.nz/williamstedman-tiffineyperry/home

New Zealand is in level 2 now but the schools are getting ready for us students to go back to school so we are still at home.

Kia Ora, Bonjour, Hello. How are you? How has your day been?
This is another lesson with the Paralympics. This is Lesson 6. We had to write 4 athletes from the Paralympics that we know the name of, then if we know, we write what sport they competed in. I remembered four athletes but only two of them with their sport. Then we had to choose an athlete, one male and one female, then research about them. I choose to do William Stedman (Athletics) and Tiffiney Perry (Wheelchair tennis). I never knew that these two athletes were even athletes because I have never heard about them, but now I know about them and can tell others about them. I made a website about these two athletes. It took me a while but I tried hard. The link to the website is at the top of this blog post. Then we had to pretend that we worked at stuff (news report website) and make an article about the Paralympics. We also had to put information about one of the athletes that we researched about. I choose to do William Stedman. At the bottom of the stuff report I wrote, stuff.co.nz, I am not sure if that is even the website link but I just put that there because I could.

Paralmpics - Lesson 5

New Zealand is still in lockdown.

Kia Ora, Bonjour, Hello. How are you? How is your day going?
This is the 5th lesson of this Paralympic stuff. The first thing that we had to do was, answer questions. The questions and answers I wrote are on the bottom left of the picture up top. We had to write a two-page spread about Paralympic sports. This was fun writing the two-page spread because it was fun and cool putting the pictures on the page. It was difficult to put the two pages together because the Paralympics logo I made was not attaching right so that the picture wasn't whole, I ended up with what you see in the picture up top.

New Zealand is still in lockdown.

Kia Ora, Bonjour, Hello. How has your day been? I hope it has been amazing.
Miss Farr (our teacher) has given us this slide to fill out. It has pictures of animals and we had to try and make a caption that is funny to go with the picture. I don't know if these are actually funny. Write in the comments if you liked it and you thought it was funny. I enjoyed this because it was fun.

Paralympics - Lesson 4

New Zealand is still in lockdown.

Hi, Kia Ora, Bonjour. How are you?
This is lesson 4 of the Paralympics. First, we had to answer questions about what a value is, what do you value and why do people value different things. I don't know if we had to draw something, I think we did, I did draw a picture of what some people value. Then we had to choose a Paralympian out of Sophie Pascoe, Scott Martlew, Cameron Leslie and Emma Foy. I choose to research about Sophie Pascoe. The Paralympic slide gave websites that tell you about those four athletes. Sophie PascoeScott MartlewCameron Leslie and Emma Foy. Then we had to make a fake Instagram post about a Paralympic athlete, I choose to do Sophie Pascoe. At the bottom of the fake Instagram post, I put Sophie Pascoe's real Instagram because.... well I don't know why. I enjoyed this lesson because it was fun to do all of these lesson activities.

Katelyn News - Lisa Adams - Quiz

New Zealand is still in lockdown.

Hello, Bonjour, Kia Ora everyone. How are you?
Today we did a quiz. My Mum and I did it. We got 10 out of 19 questions right. It was fun to do the quiz. Miss Farr said that we had to make something out of one of the questions. One of the questions was about Lisa Adams with her winning a gold medal. We got that question right because I just remembered that she won a gold medal, not silver or bronze. I decided to do Lisa Adams because the Paralympics is on right now. I made a Katelyn news video. I decided to do it outside because it was sunny. Max (my dog) was in the video too. It was funny when I was asking him what he thought of this act and he tilted his head. You couldn't really see him do that in the video though. I enjoyed making this video and find stuff about Lisa Adams.

Area of irregular shapes

New Zealand is still in lockdown.

Miss Farr has sent us a video for us to watch and a google drawing for us to fill out. We are learning about perimeters, around a shape. This is for us to learn how to find the perimeter but with an irregular shape. I don't know if I got all of these right but I tried. I enjoyed this activity because I learnt how to do it. This was difficult because the last two questions were confusing, I just did the same with the shape there.

Paralympics - Lesson 3 - Accessibility

New Zealand is still in lockdown.

This is the 3rd lesson of the Paralympics slide. I had to explain 3 things that I learnt from lesson 2 Paralympics to someone. Then I had to find the distance and how much it would be to get to Tokyo/Japan from different places in the world. After that, we had to read this article about cars/buses/scooters that people with disabilities can use. Then we had to choose one of the vehicles and write about it. Next, we had to bullet-point 10 changes that improve accessibility. After that, we had to choose somewhere in our city or town about where one of these cars/buses/scooters, we also had to make a sign that tells people that there is one of these vehicles.

Spider

New Zealand is still in lockdown

Kia Ora, Bonjour, Hello. How are you. Hope I did not scare you with Larry the spider.
On Monday night, my parents and I were outside. Then we saw this ginormous spider, dad had already named it Larry. I was confused why he called it Larry because it is so random. I am really scared of spiders so I was so scared about this spider. We sprayed it so it did not get in the house because it was close to the vent and we don`t want the spider to be on our bed. The spider landed on the floor. I was scared to go anywhere near it. We picked it up with a paper towel and got rid of it. Ummm...... so yeah.

Challenge Cards - Perimeter

New Zealand is still in lockdown.

Miss Farr (our teacher) has given us a lot of challenge cards to work our skills of perimeters. I took a screenshot of the challenge cards and put them on a slide so that I can put them on my blog. Most of this was easy in my opinion but one question I did not even read it probably, I was thinking too much of multiplying instead of adding.

Paralympics - Lesson 2 - History of the Paralympics movement to Japan

New Zealand is still in Lockdown.

Kia Ora, Bonjour, Hello. How are you today? Hope you are all so amazing.
The New Zealand Paralympics team made this slide for schools around New Zealand for kids to complete. It has questions and articles and videos and lots of cool stuff. It teaches us about the Paralympics in different and fun ways. Yesterday I did the first lesson. Today I did the second lesson. This lesson is all about the history of the Paralympics and the movement to Japan. We had to think of three things that are different compared to the 1964 Tokyo Paralympics and the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. Then we had to read this article. We had to find words that we didn't really understand and didn't know what it meant. We had to google it to find out. The words that I did not get were Impairment and Rehabilitation. It made a table that had a box for the word, a box for what I think it means and a box of what it actually means. After that, there were some questions to answer. I am not so sure that I think I got all the answers right but I tried. When all the questions were answered, we had to choose one from the bottom questions and explain why we choose to do disagree or agree. Then we had to make a paragraph on how the Paralympic Games were set up. I enjoyed this activity because I learnt a lot of interesting facts. This was difficult because it took a while and one of the activities was to have a class discussion. We are in level 4 at the moment so when it is level 2 then we can have class discussions again.

Paralympics - Lesson 1 - 1964 vs 2020

New Zealand is still in lockdown.

The New Zealand Paralympic team has made a slide for schools in New Zealand that kids can complete. They have sent our school this slide. It has 10 lessons about the Paralympics. This is the first lesson. We had to write down 5 things that we know about Japan. Then we had to watch these 3 videos. Video 1 Video 2 Video 3. We had to take notes to answer the then and now questions. I wrote these two activities on paper then put them on a google doc. I took a screenshot of it and put it on a google drawing. The next thing I had to do for this lesson was to create an infographic. I made a bar graph explaining how many people are in the Paralympics in the two different years, 1964 and 2020. The purple bar graph is the year 2020 Paralympics and the yellow bar graph is the 1964 Paralympics. 1964 Paralympics had 378 people competing and the 2020 Paralympics is 4,537. I wrote it on top of the bar so people would know too. I enjoyed this lesson because it was really fun to do everything in this lesson. This was difficult because I was going to make the bar graph on my Chromebook but I couldn't remember how. I emailed Miss Farr (our teacher) saying that I could not remember how to make it on my Chromebook. She said that I could do it on paper so that solved that problem.
I hope you enjoyed :)

Paralympics

New Zealand is still in lockdown.

Kia Ora, Bonjour, Hello. How are you?
Miss Farr (our teacher) has given us things to do while we are learning from home. Today`s activity is to do a quiz then pick one of the questions and research about it. We were allowed to do the quiz with our family. I did the quiz with my Mum. We got 14 out of 20 questions right. I choose to research about the Paralympics because at school, we have already researched about the Olympics so I thought that it would be cool to do the other Olympics. I made a video and a google drawing. I enjoyed this activity because it was fun to make the video and google drawing. It was also fun to learn about the Paralympics just in general. This was difficult because I could not find that many pictures of Trischa Zorn-Hudson (famous Paralympic athlete).
I hope you enjoyed :)

Basic Fact Challenge Cards

New Zealand is still in lockdown.

Kia Ora, Bonjour, Hello. How has your day been?
Miss Farr (our teacher) has sent us a maths slide to fill out. I tried really hard to get the right answers right, I am not sure if I got all of them right. This was difficult because some of the questions were really hard.
I hope you enjoyed:)

Key Word hunt - Boy on a bike

New Zealand is still in lockdown.

Kia Ora, Bonjour, Hello. How are you today?
Miss Farr (our teacher) has sent us stuff to do while we are in lockdown. For Thursday, we have to read this online book about a nine-year-old boy who biked the length of New Zealand. He raised $7,000 for St Johns. This book is really cool and it is such a nice thing to do. After we read the book, we have to summarise the story. Summarising means that you are retelling the important parts of the story/book. Then we have to think of keywords/phrases of the book. After that, we have to use those keywords/phrases to write a brief summary. This was enjoyable because it was fun to read the book and to write a brief summary. This was difficult because I could not think of that many keywords/phrases. I think you should do something like this too because it is really fun and it is teaching you how to summerise.
I hope you enjoyed :)

History of dogs

New Zealand is still in lockdown.

Kia Ora, Bonjour, Hello. I hope you are all having an amazing day.
Miss Farr (our teacher) has sent us stuff that we need to do this week. If we have finished all our work for the day, then we can do a can-do. The can-do for today is to research about the history of dogs and to make a slide to teach other people about the history of dogs. I enjoyed this activity because it was fun to watch the video (the video that Miss Farr told us to watch) and actually find out about the history of dogs. My second favoutite animal is a dog. What is your favourite animal? This was difficult because I could not find that many good pictures, but that is fine. I think you should try this. Pick an animal of your chocie and research about it.
I hope you enjoyed :)

Observational drawing

New Zealand is still in lockdown.

Kia Ora, Bonjour, Hello. How are you today? I hope you are amazing.
Miss Farr (our teacher) has sent us a google drawing that has things that we have to complete this week. If we finished the work for today then we can do the can-do`s. One of the can-do`s was observational drawing. Observational drawing is when you draw leaves of different types. I went outside in the backyard and front yard to look for leaves to draw. I found these 6 (the picture on top) leaves. I enjoyed this activity because it was fun to look at leaves because I usually don`t. This was difficult because I couldn`t really find that many leaves to draw because they all looked the same in my opinion. I think you should try this too.
I hope you enjoyed :)

Limerick - Duck

New Zealand is still in lockdown.

Kia Ora, Bonjour, Hello. How are you today? I hope you are all amazing.
Miss Farr (our teacher) has sent us a google drawing that has all the stuff that we have to do for this week. There are things that you can do if you have finished your work for that day. I made a limerick poem because that was one of the can-do activities. A limerick is a short poem and it is normally funny (it doesn`t have to be funny) with 5/five lines. The first, second and fifth lines all have to rhyme. The third and fourth lines have to rhyme with each other as well. I choose to do a poem about a duck. I don`t know where I got this idea from. I came up with the first line then I just kept on doing the other lines. We already learned how to write a limerick poem 1 or 2 years ago, I can`t really remember. It was really fun to do it again. I decided to make my own picture of a duck in a pond/lake. I got one of Max`s (my dog) toys and took a picture of it. I took the background of the picture off then I got a picture of a lake/pond and only took a little bit of that picture of the water. Then I put the two pictures together and made my own picture. I think you should try and make a limerick poem too.
Hope you enjoyed :)

Convert improper fractions to mixed numbers

New Zealand is still in lockdown.

Kia Ora, Hello, Bonjour!
Miss Farr (our teacher) has sent us a google drawing full of stuff that we have to do this week. Today the activity is to watch this video about converting improper fractions to mixed numbers. After we watch the video, there is this slide that we have to fill out. I worked the answers on a piece of paper then I put the answers on the slide. This was difficult because the video it did not talk about numbers that need to be turned into improper fractions. So the other different questions were a bit hard, but I did it like it was being reversed. This was enjoyable/fun because I got to learn a new skill. I think you should try this too.
Hope you enjoyed :)

Word of the week - Week 5

Kia Ora, Bonjour, Hello Everyone. How are you today?
New Zealand is still in lockdown.
Today, I got an email from Miss Farr (our teacher). She sent us a google drawing telling us what to do for the week. Today (Monday) is a teacher-only day. So we did not have to do any work. I did the word of the week, I was supposed to do it on Wednesday but that is fine. The Word for this week is obligation. Obligation means that someone has a responsbility to do something. I enjoyed this activity because it was just fun in genrel, finding out what it meant. It was difficult to find a picture, so I prblemed sloved. I made a picture. The picture is someone carring a cart full of coal. This was really fun to do. I think you should try this too because then you can learn more stuff and build our vocabulary.
I hope you enjoyed :)

Banana Muffins - Whenua cook-off

Since it is a lockdown, Miss Farr (our teacher) said that we can have a class cook-off. Yesterday, my Mum and I were going to make banana muffins because we were saving some bananas for banana muffins. We forgot to make them yesterday though. I am so glad Miss Farr said that we can have a cook-off. Miss Farr's roommate is going to be judging how made the best creation. This was so fun. I have put a recipe on the google drawing above. I used the Chelsea recipe I added chocolate chips because I thought that it would be even yummier, it was yummier. This was enjoyable because it was really fun to make these and now we can eat something for dessert tonight. My Mum's explanation of these is on the goggle drawing.
I think you should make banana muffins
I hope you enjoyed this :)

Ghost Cities - Tianducheng, China, Replica of Paris

Hi. In New Zealand, there is a lockdown. Which means that it is online school again. Before lockdown, at school we have been learning about ghost cities. We had to pick a ghost city from this website. I choose tianducheng in China, it is a replica of paris. Then we had to make something to teach others about it too. I made a slide show, News report, Video, Podcast and a website. I am really proud of myself and happy that I have made all of this so that people can learn in different ways about tianducheng. I enjoyed this activity because it was fun to learn about something different because in class, we usally do not research about ghost cities. This was difficult because this work was due tommorrow and all I had was a few things on the website and a facts. But I tried my hardest to make all of this. On the website I was trying to put the podcast that I made onto it but it was not working. I hope you learnt something from this.
I hope you enjoyed :)

What I learnt this week for Maths

This week, one of the must do`s on the class site for maths was to make a DLO with what we learned this week. I learnt how to add and subtract fractions with proper (equal) and improper (unequal) denominators. I enjoyed doing maths this week because now I know I bit more about fractions because I use to be really confused but now I am not too confused. I enjoyed making this slide show because it was just fun in general. This was difficult because when I was working with Miss Farr, (our teacher)  I didn`t get one bit but now I do. It was fun to get the pictures and take pictures.
Hope you enjoyed :)

Start of Olympics - Podcast - Google Drawing - Video

Hi! Kia Ora! Bonjour!
How are you today? I hope you feel amazing!
As you know, the Olympics is happening right now in the world. The Olympics is a sporting event. At school, Miss Farr (our teacher) said to research and make something to teach other people about the Olympics. I made a podcast, a video and a google drawing.  I enjoyed this activity because it was fun to make the video and video. It was cool to learn about it when it is going on around the world now. This was difficult because I was trying to get a lot of information about the Olympics so I can teach other people.
I think you should make something to teach someone about the Olympics.
I hope you enjoyed :)

Max VS Batman - Wevideo

Hi! Kia ora! Bonjour!
This morning I made this video because I got this idea of a batman toy vs my dog. I got this idea because I gave Max (my dog) one of my old toys because Max loves to chew stuff and we recently got rid of Max's old toy because it stank and fluff was coming out. I thought that this would be really fun to do, and it was. I enjoyed this because the way Max bit batman's head, it wasn't planned. I was going to have them face off but then Max just took one look at batman and was like, yay toy! This was not difficult, I recorded this on a phone so it was easier to film instead of my Chromebook. I should of tried I bit more so the camera did not see my knees. This was really fun. You should try this one day.
Hope you enjoyed :)

Word of the Week - Commit

Hi, Kia Ora, Bonjour!
How is your day going? I hope it is going good, amazing, fantastic, wonderful, extraordinary!
This week the word of the week is commit. Commit means doing something bad or never giving up. I made a picture of two people sitting in a jail. I could not find a picture so no fair but picture I made is here! I found a lot of synonyms and antonyms from the website https://www.thesaurus.com/. I thought that it was a shooting star, but now I know what it means. I enjoyed this because it was fun to make the picture and this was actually just a really fun word of the week. This was difficult because I could not find a picture but luckily I problem solved.
I hope you enjoyed :)

5 Jobs from the top 20 jobs in New Zealand

Hello, Kia ora and Bonjour to everyone today. How are you? I hope you all feel fantastic. I hope everyone's school holidays are going amazing!
This is an activity that was at school but on the last week last term at school I was not there I was driving with my family to go on a holiday. So I am so excited to share this work with you. We had to read this article about the 20 jobs that are in New Zealand. After that, we had to choose 5 of those jobs and make something to tell other people what the job is and what you have to do in it. I enjoyed this activity because I learnt something new about these jobs. I don't know what job I want to have when I am older, I will figure it out when I am older in the future. This was difficult because there were so many to choose from, but I settled on the ones I want to teach others to put on my blog. I decided to draw one of the picture's on the first page. I drew a chef. I just drew it on paper then took a picture and put it on the front cover.
I hope you enjoyed :)

SUPER EXCITED AND FUN ACTIVITY WITH CRAYONS - Colour Wheel Silhouette

Kia Ora! Hi! Bonjour! How are you? I hope you are all feeling AMAZING, TERRIFIC AND AWESOME!

At School, us year seven's and year eight's (I am a year seven this year) went to Tech at the High School. We learn and do different stuff there we usually don't do at Primary School (Such as Woodwork, Cooking and Technology). When we came back to Primary School our release teacher had a fun art activity for us that she started with the year six's. It was this art that we had to get a piece of clean paper then trace the silhouette on the paper when it is on the window. When we finished tracing the silhouette we got to colour. We had to choose colours that are the differences on sides with the colour wheel. I knew that I wanted to do pink for the background. The teacher said that we could draw clothes on the person as well because the paper that we traced off, you could not really see the clothes because the picture was black. I decided to do the clothes a blue gradient and the skin from red to orange then yellow. The silhouette was a boy at first but then I changed to look more like a girl because I am a girl. The picture is someone about to kick a ball in soccor (I play soccor, so that is why I choose that picture). I would definetely do this art again. I enjoyed it because it was just such a fun experience. This was diffciult because it took awhile to dod it but that is fine. When I thought I finished the art, I noticed that I didn't draw the outline on the hair so I changed it.

I hope you enjoyed! :)

Inquiry - Potential and Kinetic Energy - By Katelyn

In class, we have been learning about an energy topic. We got to choose a type of energy. I choose to do Potential and Kinetic energy because I thought that it was going to be fun and because I like learning about Potential and Kinetic energy. We already learned about Potential and Kinetic energy last term/1st term for the year 2021 and I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed making this because I like to make things that can teach others with what I learned. This was difficult because I was stressed, I thought I was not going to finish it. But after an hour or so, I finished it. I made a speech and two microphones as well because one of the things that have potential and kinetic energy is a microphone, when you drop the mic after saying something epic or funny or if you just wanted to do that.

Hope you enjoyed :)

Inquiry - Potential and Kinetic Energy - Podcast - Katelyn Podcast

In class, we have been learning about any type of energy. We got to choose our own type of energy. I choose to do two types, Potential and Kinetic energy. I choose to do Potential and Kinetic energy because I feel really intrested in that kind of stuff. We reaschearched for a while about this topic. When I gathered all my information, I made multiple of different things. One of the things I made was a podcast. I enjoyed making this podcast because I like to make videos about my learning. This was difficult because I thought that it was due Friday but it is due Monday because I was worring a lot but now I am fine.
I hope you enjoyed :)

Octopus Information report

Octopuses/Octopie are sea animals they have 9 brains and 3 hearts! They have a habitat of many oceans in the world. Octopuses eat lots and lots of sea animals during their 1 to 2 years of living in the wild. They are very talented and smart creatures who can squeeze into small spaces.

Octopuses live in many different places under the ocean.
Octopuses live in kelp forests and coral reefs. Octopie finds to prefer warmer water meaning they live in the sunlight zone. They also live in tidal rock pools where they can easily disguise themselves as oddly-shaped rocks to capture prey. Octopie has no skeleton so they can squeeze into small and tight spaces.

Octopuses eat a lot of different sea creatures.
Octopuses feed on crabs, clams, snails, small fish and other octopuses. Octopuses are one of the most intelligent creatures in the ocean to catch their prey. Octopuses have venom and different octopus have different levels of toxicity which means they can kill they prey easily.

Octopie has a range of predators.
Here are some predators of Octopie. Seals, Fish Conger eels, sea otters, Moray eels, Dolphins, Many birds, Sperm Whales, Sharks. Octopuses have clever ways to defend themselves, they swim head first and in times of danger. They can expel out of water.

There are a lot of different species of octopuses all around the world.
There are 300 species of octopuses around the world. For example, Mimic octopus, coconut octopus, blanket octopus and California two-spot octopus. Some species of octopie are rarer than others different species live in different environments such as the pressure as you get deeper. Here are some other types of octopie! Blue ring octopus, giant pacific octopus, common octopus, Caribbean reef octopuses.

In conclusion, now you know that there are many different octopuses and their habitats are different from other animals. Their prey and predators are different from other sea creatures out there in the world.

Caption:
How are you today? I hope you feel AWESOME! I feel AMAZING, thanks! (if you asked me.)
In class, we have been learning about octopuses. we researched about them and put them on a sheet of paper, then we put it in full sentences on a plan sheet. We had to write the Introduction and Conclusion by ourselves but the paragraphs were already written on the plan sheet. So it was easy, well only if you had a decent plan with big sentences and information. I enjoyed this activity because we already had the information on the planning sheet so all we had to do was copy from it (it was from our own words). I like doing information reports in general too! This activity was difficult because it was hard to see the paper because our whole group could not all look at it at the same time because we were the biggest group. We problem solved this by putting it up with a Chromebook case and some books, so it was alright.

Hope you enjoyed :) Have a good day!

Word of the week - Resilience

Hi everyone! Kia Ora! Bonjour!
Hope you are all having a fantastic day.
Every week at school we have a word that we have to research and learn about to increase our vocabulary. The word for this week is Resilience. Our Teacher wrote on the whiteboard that Resilience is going to be the word of the week because she said that our class needs to be it more. I enjoyed this activity because it was fun to try and move the texts around and it was just fun in general. This was difficult because it was hard to find a picture and trying to think of other antonyms and synonyms for Resilience.
Hope you enjoyed! :)
You should try this out too!

Suffixes

Hi, bonjour, Kia Ora! Hope you are having a good, lovely day!

Through the past week we have been learning about suffixies. We had to complete and fill out these different sheets to learn about what a suffix actually is because you can't teach and make something if you don't even know what it is. A suffix is a sound that you can add on a sentence like -est or -er to make it more of something. This was really fun to learn and I can understand how to write a few more words. We had to make a DLO about suffixes so that others can learn too! I choose to put a picture in there aswell because I thought that it would pop a bit more on my blog (the website you are on right now). I choose to do a picture with a small dog and a big dog. I wrote smallest and biggest on the dogs because those words have suffiexs. I enjoyed this atcivity because it was fun to write what are suffixes and look at the cute dogs. This was difficult because it was hard to find a picture to represent what suffixes are that I could use, but then I was like, why don't I have dogs to represent that. And that is the picture that I found on google to put there.

Hope you enjoyed!

Soccor - Player of the day!

Hi Everyone! Kia Ora! Bonjour! How are you all? I hope you are doing good.
Guess what! I GOT THE PLAYER OF THE DAY award today at soccer. Every Saturday there is a soccer game. In the first half, I was a mid-fielder and at the start of the second half, I was a sub. Everyone (mostly everyone) was a sub at some point. When I was not a sub on the second half, I switched with someone who was back so that meant that I was back. Whenever I saw the ball coming and someone was chasing it (on the other team) and it was over the line I kicked it. I kicked it a lot. It was so much fun! You can't really tell by the picture, but my face was so red. Usually, you get a certificate too but they did not have any so they are just going to give it to me at practice on Thursday. I was so happy when I got the player of the day. I enjoy soccer a lot. You should try Soccer too! (If you like kicking and running around.)
Thanks for visiting my blog!

Word of the weeks

Kia ora! Hope you are all having an amazing day.
I have made this slide full of all my word of the weeks of the term because I keep forgetting to post them. I have written what the date was when I made the word of the week in the top left of the page. I enjoyed doing these words of the week because it was fun to make a picture. My Teacher (Mrs. Read, for now since Miss Farr is gone for now.) said that we had to make the picture instead of getting a picture from google. I usually already do that sometimes when I can't find a picture I can use. This was difficult because I found a lot of synonyms and antonyms so I had to write all of them.
I think you should try this too!
Hope you enjoyed :)

Blogging Contratct - What, Why are you grateful for?

Bonjour! Kia Ora! Hello!
How has your day been going? Hopefully, it has been amazing. Write in the comments!
This is an activity that we can do whenever we like. It is called the blogging Contract. This is a goggle drawing that Miss Farr (My teacher) made for us to do in 2019. (This is my third year with Miss Farr) It has a bunch of different activities to choose from. I choose the things that I am grateful for because I was in the mode of expressing my feelings about what I am grateful for. I enjoyed this because it was fun to write about my family. I liked putting the pictures there as well. This was difficult because I had a big spot that was empty so I thought that I should put what it said on the blogging Contract form and that it was made by me. You should try this out if you're bored. Just go to the Whenua 2021 site then go down to the blogging contract.

Hope you enjoyed :)
